Money saving bus fare bargains from bakerbus !

In these difficult times, we understand how important it is to continue to offer bargain fares and so we have put together a summary of everything on offer, which we hope will be useful.

 BUS TICKETS

At the present time, all our bus fares must be purchased on the bus from the driver. Our fares are generally based on distance traveled and our “Bargain Day Return” tickets between main points are printed within our timetable leaflets. There are literally thousands of bus fares for all our bus services and there are just too many to publish them all, with no simple way to display them in any “user friendly” format, but we do welcome email or telephone enquiries, so that you can always know the correct fare BEFORE you travel, if you wish.

SINGLE and DAY RETURN JOURNEYS

We offer best value adult single fares, which start at 50p on some services and (same) Day Returns start at £1.40. Many of our services also have special promotional day return fares and we believe, always cheaper than our competitors. If not, please let us know !

CHILDRENS’ FARES

Under fives travel free and from their fifth birthday until their sixteenth birthday, there are special child fares, which are roughly two thirds of the adult fare. On and after their sixteenth birthday, the adult fare is then payable, EXCEPT if they remain in full time education and a college or university identity card is presented to the driver. They are then eligible to continue to pay the child or any special student fare, but please note for The X1, Staffordshire University provide separate student discount cards.  Child fares start at 30p single and £1.00, (same) day return and “capped” to a MAXIMIM child fares of £1.50 single, £2.00 day return and £10 Ten Trip Ticket.  Multi-operator tickets also offer childrens' fares. CHILDRENS’ FARES IN STAFFORDSHIRE

From June 2011 a new scheme was introduced in the County of Staffordshire, (but not in Stoke-on-Trent), which will allow children and young people up to and including nineteen years of age to pay a maximum single fare of £1.00 for all journeys commencing in Staffordshire. An identity card will be required by those aged 11 and over and this scheme will be subject to the terms and conditions of Staffordshire County Council.  For more information and an on-line application form, please click here.  In North Staffordshire, (including Stoke-on-Trent), the Smart multi-operator ticket also offers childrens' fares. CONCESSIONARY TRAVEL FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

Since 01 April 2008 senior citizens over 60 years of age, and holders of valid local authority passes, may travel free of charge at all times for journeys commencing in Staffordshire, and after 09:30 for journeys commencing in Cheshire on Mondays to Fridays. Half fare is payable before 09:30 on Mondays to Fridays, and free of charge at all other times. A "bus pass" (obtainable from local councils) must be shown to the driver on each occasion and a special ticket will be issued for each journey. These passes are also now valid for free travel anywhere in England after 09:30, but special local conditions may apply at other times. Please contact the local authority concerned for full details.

ALL DAY TICKETS

Available from the driver of any bakerbus service, (except service 108), for unlimited travel anywhere in Cheshire and Staffordshire, on the day of issue ; Adult £3.70 ; Child £2.00 ; Family £7.00 (for a maximum of 2 adults and up to three children, all traveling together).

TEN TRIP TICKETS

These tickets enable ten single journeys to be made between the same two bus stops/fare stages* for much less than the price of nine.

Ten Trip Tickets are purchased from the driver and are valid for three months after issue, (that is, before the same date three months later – e.g., for a ticket issued on 12th January, ten journeys must be made before 12th April).

There are four ticket values according to distance travelled :-

Adult   £8.50*   £10.50   £12.00   £16.00

Child   £6.00*   £7.00     £8.00     £10.00

* Nines or 94/94A only - £7.90 and £5.30 and valid for ANY journey   on both routes

 In Congleton, for the Beartown network, we offer a special

“Bearnanza” Ten Trip Ticket at £6.30 (adult) and £3.20 (child)

 NEW “ONE MONTH” TICKET

Only available from drivers on Nines or 94/94A at a special introductory price of £29.00 for any number of journeys on both routes. Valid for one calendar month from day of issue, i.e. a ticket issued on 21 March will be valid until and including 20 April, irrespective of the number of days in the month or whether or not it contains any number of Bank Holidays. There will be no refunds or adjustments to take account of this. Even so, this price represents considerable savings on standard single and return tickets

FREE TRAVEL FOR ARMED SERVICES PERSONNEL AND POLICE OFFICERS

We offer free travel at all times to all members of the Armed Services and Police Officers on production of valid ID cards.
