Money saving bus fare bargains from bakerbus !

In these difficult times, we understand how important it is to continue to offer bargain fares and so we have put together a summary of everything on offer, which we hope will be useful.

BUS TICKETS

All our bus fares must be purchased on the bus from the driver, but we have introduced our bakerbus SAVER Cheshire and Staffordshire STORED VALUE TRAVELCARD – see below for details.

Our fares are generally based on distance travelled and our “Bargain Day Return” tickets between main points are printed within our timetable leaflets. There are literally thousands of bus fares for all our bus services and there are just too many to publish them all, with no simple way to display them in any “user friendly” format, but we do welcome email or telephone enquiries, so that you can always know the correct fare BEFORE you travel, if you wish.

 NEW - bakerbus SAVER Cheshire and Staffordshire     

                               STORED VALUE TRAVELCARD

This is a plastic smartcard, the size of a credit card, which you load with money and then use it to pay for bus journeys. There is 10% discount on Single, Day Returns and All Day Tickets for adults and children, on all bakerbus services.

Please allow up to ten days for delivery. On the next bus journey the driver should be asked to store up to £50 on the card in any multiples of £5. The card is then placed on the ticket machine reader and the driver asked for the selected journey fare. The 10% discounted fare is then automatically deducted from the card and a receipt issued showing the remaining balance available. The card can be topped up on the bus with extra stored value when necessary.

SINGLE and DAY RETURN JOURNEYS

We offer best value adult single fares, which start at 50p on some services and (same) Day Returns start at £1.60. Many of our services also have special promotional day return fares and we believe, always cheaper than our competitors. If not, please let us know !

CHILDRENS’ and STUDENTS’ FARES

Under fives travel free and from their fifth birthday until their sixteenth birthday, there are special child fares, which are roughly two thirds of the adult fare. On and after their sixteenth birthday, the adult fare is then payable, EXCEPT if they remain in full time education and a college or university identity card is presented to the driver. They are then eligible to continue to pay the child or any special student fare, but NOT available on The X1). Child fares start at 50p single and £1.10, (same) day return and “capped” to a MAXIMIM child fares of £1.50 single, £2.00 day return and £10 Ten Trip Ticket.

CHILDRENS’ FARES IN STAFFORDSHIRE

In the County of Staffordshire, (but not in Stoke-on-Trent), children and young people up to and including nineteen years of age, pay a maximum single fare of £1.00 for all single journeys commencing in Staffordshire. An identity card is required and this scheme is subject to the terms and conditions of Staffordshire County Council.

CONCESSIONARY TRAVEL FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

Senior citizens, in possession of valid local authority passes, may travel free of charge at all times for journeys commencing in the County of Staffordshire (and Stoke-on-Trent*) and after 09.30 for journeys commencing in Cheshire on Mondays to Fridays. Half fare is payable in Cheshire before 09.30 on Mondays to Fridays, and free of charge at all other times.

* In Stoke-on-Trent, from 01 April 2012, free travel will no longer be allowed before 09.30 but bakerbus allow travel at child fares on presentation of a valid concessionary pass.

A "bus pass" (obtainable from local councils) must be shown to the driver on each occasion and a special ticket will be issued for each journey. These passes are also now valid for free travel anywhere in England after 09:30, but special local conditions may apply at other times. Please contact the local authority concerned for full details.

ALL DAY TICKETS

Available from the driver of any bakerbus service and is valid for unlimited travel anywhere in Cheshire and Staffordshire, on the day of issue ; Adult £3.90 ; Child £2.00 ; Family £7.00 (for a maximum of 2 adults and up to three children, all travelling together).

TEN TRIP TICKETS

These tickets currently enable ten single journeys to be made between the same two bus stops/fare stages* for much less than the price of nine.

As a result of the introduction of the bakerbus SAVER  Cheshire and Staffordshire STORED  VALUE TRAVELCARD tickets, Ten Trips Tickets will no longer be valid after 31 July 2012. This is because, with 10% discount, it will be slightly cheaper to purchase day return tickets each day. TTTs will continue on The X1 but only until September 2012.

Ten Trip Tickets are purchased from the driver and are valid for three months after issue, (that is, before the same date three months later – e.g., for a ticket issued on 12th January, ten journeys must be made before 12th April).

There is a range of values according to distance travelled, between

Adult   £11.00 and £19.00

Child     £7.00 and £10.00

In Congleton, for the Beartown Bus Network, we offer a special

“Bearnanza” Ten Trip Ticket at £6.50 (adult) and £3.40 (child)

NEW “ONE MONTH” AND ONE WEEK TICKETS

A ONE MONTH ticket is now available. It is only available from drivers on Nines or 94/94A at a special price of £29.00 for adults and now for children at £19.00, for any number of journeys on both routes. Valid for one calendar month from day of issue, i.e. a ticket issued on 21 March will be valid until and including 20 April, irrespective of the number of days in the month or whether or not it contains any number of Bank Holidays.         

New ONE WEEK tickets are also now available on Nines and 94/94A at £9.00 adult and £6.00 child, for any number of journeys on both routes and valid for seven consecutive days, including the day of issue.

Another ONE WEEK tickets is also available on Nines and 94/94A and 99/99A/99B/99C at £12.00 adult and £8.00 child, for any number of journeys on all these services and valid for seven consecutive days, including the day of issue.

There will be no refunds or adjustments to ONE WEEK or ONE MONTH  if not used. Even so, these prices represent considerable savings on standard single and return tickets

These are valid for travel on all bakerbus and other operators’ buses routes within these areas of operation
