The high standards of customer care shown by 'bakerbus' drivers has been recognised by ACES - the local community watchdog. Bakers' drivers covering the X1 route linking Hanley, Stoke and Stafford railway stations and hospitals, have distinguished themselves for their 'continued commitment and loyalty'.
Bakerbus is the local bus service division of Bakers Coaches, Biddulph. Commenting on the award Managing Director Phil Baker said "As a service organisation, our training is focussed on delivering customer satisfaction, and we are delighted therefore to receive such a public endorsement for the day-to-day professionalism shown by our drivers."
ACES which stands for Achievement in Customer Excellence is a group of individuals based in North Staffordshire who have a very keen interest in the quality of every aspect of life in the local area.
Bakers' longest serving X1 driver, Dave Meir was chosen to receive this award on behalf of himself and twelve colleagues who work on the X1 route. This is the only bus service connecting Stoke with Stafford Hospital and railway stations. According to Selwyn Brown, Coordinator for ACES, there has not been a single complaint made to ACES in the five years since the service first started.
The award was presented on behalf of ACES by County Councillor Christina Jebb at Stoke Station on Friday 20th March. Christina Jebb is well known for her support of local transport. "Our bus services are central to the well being of our local communities," says Christina. "At some stage in life most people will have to give up their motor cars and it is then they come to realise just how important it is to have a caring and reliable public transport network."
