BEARTOWN BUS SERVICE FORMS PARTNERSHIP
WITH ANIMALS ASIA FOUNDATION

Three bears will soon be seen travelling through the streets of Congleton, thanks to a partnership between Bakerbus and the Animals Asia Foundation.

The Beartown Bus service, operated by Bakers, is set to have new graphics installed on all three of its vehicles, highlighting the work carried out by the Animals Asia Foundation. Each bus will feature the name and picture of one of the bears rescued by the Foundation.

Drivers of the Beartown Buses were given a list of over two hundred bears to choose from. After careful consideration, it was decided that the vehicles will be named Abracadabra, Stardust and Chance.

Animals Asia Foundation (AAF), founded by Jill Robinson MBE in 1998, is dedicated to ending cruelty and restoring respect for all animals across Asia. It is a non-governmental organisation headquartered in Hong Kong, with offices in the UK, USA, Australia, Italy and Germany and Moon Bear Rescue Centres in China and Vietnam.

The Foundation's main project, the Moon Bear Rescue, involves the ongoing rescue of 500 suffering and endangered bears from cruel bile farms in China. Similarly, 200 farmed bears are being rescued in Vietnam.

AAF's Nicky Vyvyan-Robinson comments, "We already have links in the Congleton area through our association with the Beartown Brewery. We are delighted to form a partnership with Bakers and feel that the images of the bears on the Beartown Buses will help to further raise the profile of the foundation."

In addition to the name and picture of the bears, the buses will also feature a large poster showing Bakers' support for the AAF. Information leaflets will also be available inside each bus.

Phil Baker adds, "Congleton's connection with the bear dates back over 350 years. The partnership with the AAF marks the second anniversary of our operation of the Beartown Buses. We are delighted to be able to link this service, and offer our support, to the Animals Asia Foundation."

The Beartown Buses provide a regular service on town routes covering Banky Fields, Bromley, Bunglawton, Mossley and West Heath.
