Bus service changes from Monday 18 May 2009

Services 33/33A Westlands - Newcastle

Following consultation with 33/33A customers and your own dedicated bus drivers, we have simplified this timetable to provide regular departures from Newcastle during the daytime from Monday to Saturday. At the same time we have discontinued the Saturday extensions to and from Hanley, which no longer seem to be popular. This should also ensure that easy access low floor buses operate the service each day of the week.

Service 77 Congleton - Mow Cop - Kidsgrove - Tunstall - Burslem - Hanley

At last we have been able to offer an easy access low floor bus dedicated to this service and a special new name - 77 sunset strip. Some people will remember the much acclaimed American television series from the 1960s but most will be familiar with this very British bingo call ! Our latest timetable contains one small improvement. The 16:10hrs journey from Hanley to Mow Cop Bank will continue to Congleton each day. Otherwise all the other times remain unchanged.

Services 94/94A Biddulph - Tunstall - Wolstanton - Newcastle

Following the success of the expansion of this route, we are now pleased to introduce some further improvements. There are changes to departure times from Biddulph and Newcastle, (except during Monday to Friday peak period journeys, which remain unchanged). Buses for Brown Lees depart at different times from Newcastle, (again except during Monday to Friday peak periods). In Biddulph, service 94A will operate via Princess Street instead of Kingsfield Road. There are also some changes to times from bus stops along the route. Altogether, these changes should improve the reliability of these services, which do sometimes suffer from traffic congestion. Most journeys on services 94/94A are now normally operated by low floor easy access buses. Good connections are also available in Biddulph with bakerbus service 99 to and from Congleton and Macclesfield. Through fares are available. When boarding, just tell our friendly drivers that you wish to make connecting journeys.

Services 99/99A/99B Biddulph - Congleton - Macclesfield

Yet again, there are many improvements but most of the previous bus times are unchanged. The exception is that there is a new hourly service 99B on Mondays to Fridays serving, in Biddulph, Victoria Business Park, (The Coach Travel Centre), Conway Road, Thames Drive and Pennine Way, providing new links with Congleton and Macclesfield. An hourly service will also continue via Gillow Heath in both directions. There will also be new journeys to and from Congleton Station, also serving Brown Lees, connecting with commuter trains for Manchester and Birmingham on Mondays to Fridays. In the daytime, there will also be extra journeys to and from Congleton and Macclesfield, providing buses every half hour during the off-peak period. There are good connections in Biddulph with our Nines service to/from Hanley, to/from Tunstall, Wolstanton and Newcastle (services 94/94A), and to/from Leek (services 423/424). When boarding, just tell our friendly drivers that you wish to make connecting journeys. We also hope to introduce more easy access, low floor buses in the not too distant future because we know this is important too. From now on, 99/99A/99B will now be known as The Pennine Way - the scenic route to reflect the beautiful countryside along the route between Biddulph Moor and Bosley - the gentle beginnings of the mighty Pennines, also passing Biddulph Grange Gardens and Country Park, The Cloud and canal side walks. There are also opportunities for shopping and museum visits in Congleton and Macclesfield. So why not take a trip very soon ?

Beartown Bus Network in Congleton

The new timetable features extra journeys between West Heath, Buglawton and Congleton Station, connecting with trains for Manchester and Birmingham commuters on Mondays to Fridays. There are also some minor adjustments, but most bus times remain unchanged. These services are operated on behalf of Cheshire East Council and the decision has been made to increase fares from the same date, the first time since Beartown Buses started in August 2007.
